When is too much too much? Duggars announce 20th baby

When I heard the news I felt sad because I knew that there were people that would be putting their two cents in. People have an opinion on everything whether it is about a celebrity, family or stranger. People voice those opinions without thinking about how it will affect others. As the Duggars announce their newest pregnancy, I was not surprised. I didn’t think that the complications they had with Josie would stop them. A lot of people continue to have pregnancies after being deemed high risk. Many couples continue to have premature babies after knowing the risk of future premature babies. That is their choice. If the Duggars are selfish for having another pregnancy after one premature birth, what about the couples that choose to have 3 or more premature babies?

My view is simple. It is a personal choice until it affects others. The Duggars raise their children with amazing values that honor God. Imagine what this world would be like if more people raised their families with those values. While our society is generally selfish and self focused, the Duggars are raised to work together and be self sufficient. They live on a budget and recognize their blessings. It is something to strive for. Instead of criticizing the Duggars choice, why not consider our own lives. For now, I want to send Congratulations to the Duggars on another blessing and pray for a safe and long pregnancy!

  1. You hit the nail on the head with ‘until it starts to affect others’. Yes, my first response was ‘wow, why?’. But as long as they are physically, mentally/emotionally, financially able to care for their children then best wishes to them. I do have concerns on how 2 people can truly care for 20 children. How do you give each of them the time and care that children require? But it seems to be working for them.

  2. Thank you! The decision to have more children is a sacred one between the husband and the wife. For us, five is enough. It is not my right to begrudge another’s decision to have 2, 8, 20 or 0 children. God bless them.

  3. I admire people who have lots of kids and are GOOD parents. This family seems like they are great parents and teach their kids good values and morals. That is so important in the world we live in. Who are we to judge?

  4. I honestly don’t see why people are SO upset about this?! Who cares?? I say, congratulations and best wishes for a happy and healthy pregnancy ;)

  5. I agree, they are doing magnificently, and Michelle doesn’t even look like she does above anymore, she has been working out and looks GREAT from the pics I saw! Good for them!

  6. I love them, they are very sweet parents and a lovely family. People always have opinions and that is fine but when it gets hateful then it’s too much. They are blessed and they are a blessing to others. These kids are all SO respectful and obedient.

  7. I agree completely. If they were depending on government financial support, then perhaps it would be an issue. But they are doing a great job as parents, so I send over my congratulations to them.
