Mamavation Monday: No Excuses

Hi My name is Gena and I am the queen of excuses. I can’t workout today because I don’t have time. I can’t workout today because I just don’t feel well. I can’t workout because my kids won’t let me. We’ve all made our excuses during this lifestyle change, right? If you answer no to that question, reconsider because I would put money towards that! Excuses is the very reason we are in the position that we are in. We need to change and get away from those excuses. We need to take control of our lives.

I started the Couch to 5K over again. I am currently on week 2. I woke up this morning after very little sleep and a long list of things that needed to be done. I looked on Twitter and seen my Sistas from Mamavation. You didn’t even have to talk to me yet you were there reminding me why I needed to GIT R DONE. I kept saying to myself, NO EXCUSES. I have to do this. I can do this. I completed week 2 day 1. I will admit, I feel defeated. This last week I went to my sister’s house and stepped on the scale. I held back the tears. I was up about 10 lbs. That put me at about 135. Not a lot to some people. Do I think I’m overweight? No and far from it. Honestly, I look great for the most part. I look at these 10 lbs as the first step. The first step is to stop making excuses. The hard work is worth it. I refuse to let that 10 lbs turn into another 10 lbs and another 10 lbs. I know the cause of the 10 lbs. It wasn’t so much from lack of working out. It was from a lack of self control. That’s where I was making my excuses. It’s just one cupcake (ten cupcakes later). I was stress eating. Which means it is time to stock my fridge with healthier stuff. I have to get my mind into the frame that it is okay to stress eat IF and ONLY IF the food I am eating is healthy. It is also a sign that I need more water. The more water I drink, the less I want to shove my face with food. Today? I am going to the store and purchasing baby carrots, broccoli and other vegetables. I can’t wait to tell you how I finished this week of Couch to 5K and changed my snacking habits.

This week’s Blogging carnival question is sponsored by GruntStyle.

What parts of your body are you especially proud of right now? What makes you love them?

Currently, my favorite part of my body is my butt! I just bought some new jeans and my butt looks fab in them. Is there any other reason needed to love a body part?

  1. I’m also a queen of excuses. It’s been a struggle not to let them get the best of me. Still a struggle everyday.
Keep that refusal to gain anymore weight! Great job on making choices for healthier food. I can’t wait to hear how the rest of your week 2 5k workout goes! I’m glad that Mamavation kept you motivated to do it this morning!

No more excuses is right. We all do tend to make excuse though the first step is not to make them. Good luck this week keep it up you can do. :)

  3. You know what? The excuses lecture is the same one I gave myself this morning..along with the get up off the floor, stop crying and take another step lecture. I’m glad that just seeing us motivated you. Love you, woman!

  6. I love those jeans!! You are rocking them! Ah excuses, we all try to find a way to justify them at one point or another. Great job for facing them head on and moving past them.
