What is the definition of a true friend? To me that’s simple. It’s someone that is always there. Someone that will tell you what their opinions are even if they go against your own. Someone that always lets you know where you stand. Someone that will tell you the complete truth even if it hurts. That friendship can survive anything and it’s rare. There is no competition, a little drama and a lot of love. It isn’t always easy but it’s always worth it.

Rizzoli and Isles are both strong, intelligent and competent women.  They are guarded around others but are able to let that guard down when they are together. They can be completely free with each other and know that no matter what they have each other. That kind of friendship is beyond rare. I am blessed to know that I don’t have just one friend like that but a few. I could name them all but I’m going to focus on one. Shana.

I met Shana online almost 4 years ago when we were pregnant together. We have shared a lot together over the last 4 years even though we live hundreds of miles apart. I know if I ever need to talk to someone, she will be there. We can tell each other anything without any judgment from either side. We have an understanding of each other. Just because our friendship is separated by miles, we’ve got to meet in person several times. Our families have spent time together. Even though she is moving even further, I get the pleasure of flying out to see her family again. She isn’t just a friend but she is family. I love that.
