Mamavation Monday: Breathe. One Step at a time.

I have always struggled with wanting immediate results. It’s more like an obsessive thing. I am learning that life changes only come in time. I have always known that I needed to be healthier for myself as well as my family. I would try and when I didn’t immediately feel better, I got discouraged. What happens when I get discouraged? I eat! Not just anything either. I eat JUNK. Then I feel sluggish and drained. It’s an endless cycle. My first step of the journey was definitely kicking the soda habit. It was NOT easy! I did fall a couple of times. But every time I fell, I realized I really wasn’t missing it. It didn’t taste the same anymore. I also felt even more tired after I drank just ONE. Well no wonder I was so tired which led to frustrations and being overwhelmed. I have been more energized since drinking more water. True I have to pee more but at least I have the energy to get to the toilet right?

Now that I am feeling slightly better, I am working on my activity levels again. My goal has never been to lose weight but to be fit and healthy and strong. After 6 kids, I have my trouble spot. My stomach! I hate it! So I am working on ab crushers thanks to Gruntstyle. I am also mixing pilates in with it. I am also going to learn some new dance moves. I love to dance! The kids love to dance too. This week, I will start walking with my dad’s girlfriend on our walking path. It is just about 3 miles and hilly. By the end of summer, I want to be almost running the whole thing.

Once I get my exercise routine down, I will be working on eating a lot healthier. After all, it’s one step at a time right?

How have you recently stepped up to support someone in your life?

I try to be supportive of anyone who needs it. I am that person that is passionate about cheering others on. I believe in the best of everyone and know that we are all capable of anything we want to do. We just have to put our minds to it and support is so important in that factor.

  1. I think a lot of us have the same issue with health and the need for immediate results. I know it’s an issue for me, too. So don’t feel alone there. Congrats on kicking the soda habit. One step at a time.

  2. Aren’t abs just the toughest? It’s such a large muscle group, and motherhood doesn’t do it any favors! But keep up the good work, because it seems that you’re combating the pitfalls so well! Kudos for keeping it on the positive and forgiving yourself for the slip-ups. Sometimes it’s the little oopses that help us the most!
