The problem with our society begins with shows like Teen Mom!
Newspaper stands, twitter, facebook and other places are bombarded with images of teens from the hit show Teen Mom. It breaks my heart to see these teen parents idolized! Being a teen mom myself, I know the difficulties of raising a baby on my own while trying to grow up. But it wasn’t something that was cool.
Stop putting money into marketing on teen parents and start putting that money towards helping teen parents. I am all for helping teen parents get ahead. It’s not easy but a lot of them really want to make a difference. They should be sharing their stories in schools and putting together documentary. Not some glamorous show that is put together for rankings. Stop putting them on magazine covers! These kids are NOT role models. They shouldn’t be getting fame just because they had sex as a teenager.

AMEN!
No KIDDING!! My brother in law & his girlfriend had a baby last year he’s 17 she’s 16 & she has had to quit school & move in with my father in law, her life isnt what a teens should be.

I agree. They need to spend the money on educating teens not to have sex and not to get pregnant. I am happy these teen moms are doing the right thing and raising there kids but they needed to show more responsibility while having sex in the first place.

I watch Teen Mom, and I don’t think it’s glamorizing it at all. I feel terrible for those girls and how it’s effected their lives. My younger cousins {who are teens} watch it and every time we talk about it they mention to me how they don’t want lives like that so they’re careful etc. The one girl gave her child up for adoption and is trying to do things with her life now {although she will be graduating HS late}, it shows the struggle that she goes through with giving up her baby even though she knows she did the best thing. Another girl abuses her now ex boyfriend and still hasn’t finished HS. Not glamorous at all!

Christa, I know they show the hardships of being a teen mom. But also seeing that these girls are famous BECAUSE they gave birth is glamorizing it. There are some teens that obviously will see the good in the show. But then there are others that will see “Hey If I want to be famous, I just have to have a baby.”
