Who I am and where I want to be? EVO taught me more than I could imagine.
Did you know that cowboys say WOOHOOO and not Yeehaw? Well at EVO 2010, I realized that it is true. After cowboys enjoy the Luscious lemonade in the bar at Park City Mountain Resorts, that’s what they start saying. When I first came across EVO 2010, I knew I wanted to go. It felt like a calling. It was an absolute MUST that I attend. I mean how could I not? They promised a slumber party in Park City, Utah where we would also be learning so much! I was nervous though. That is a lot of money to attend the conference. First you have the conference pass and then the hotel and transportation. One look at the agenda and I knew that it was completely worth it! It was like paying for an all inclusive resort! Even if we were on our own for dinner Friday night, there was so much available to us!
A lot has happened this last weekend and it is so hard to put everything into one post. So watch for a couple things from me. I think the best thing was meeting all the friends that I have made online. No more virtual hugs and lots of real ones! Now the best thing that I have learned is the key to success. It wasn’t something complicated or requires a lot of money. It is the most simplest of ideas. Be yourself. Be true to yourself and you will succeed at anything.
Another big thing I learned is to never be afraid. If you think someone on here is a big name and would never talk to you, then go right on up and introduce yourself! I left my fear at the door and met the most amazing people this weekend. I didn’t leave Park City with any regrets. I discovered that people were just as excited to see me as I was to see them! You may find the same thing if you let go of the fear.
Since I have been home, I have been asking myself a big question. Where do I want to go from here? I don’t want to be huge. I just want to be real. I want to offer support to others and find others that want to do the same. I want to make connections. That’s why I started blogging in the first place. I wanted to stay connected to family and friends. I want to share companies that are complete awesomeness. It is important to me. I want to share the ups and downs of parenting and that includes topics that are important to me. This is what I have learned from EVO ’10. There is no looking back and only going forward!
Last but certainly not least, I want to send a huge Thank You to Scandinavian Child for making this conference possible to me! Their Designs without Compromise philosophy is something that I truly stand behind. It is a company that stands behind it’s products and want to know how to help parents make their lives easier. I absolutely love their products and use their products everyday. If you attended EVO and did not get to meet the women representing Scandinavian Child, go talk to them on Twitter! They are some of the best women I had the opportunity to meet. I am blessed to call them friends.

Cheryl I would have loved to meet you as well!
It was great meeting you IRL! I love the takeaways you shared in this post. Authenticity was such a great theme woven throughout the conference. I love that you commented about wanting to be more real. I’ve thought about a lot since I’ve been home.
Again, fab post. Hope to see you back at evo’11!
Jyl the conference was everything I expected and so much more! I think for a lot of people it’s all about fear! EVO has helped me overcome my own fears of certain things a lot more. It’s actually very refreshing to just relax and do what feels right!
I will totally be at EVO’11!
