30 weeks Pregnant Update and Packing for hospital!

Holy crap! I can’t believe that I am officially 9 weeks away from holding this little boy! Of course it can happen anytime between 6-9 weeks but we are hoping to get at least 8 more weeks! Plus I really need the time! The next few months into May are so packed of things going on that I’m starting to feel the overwhelming need to get it all done! But it feels so great to be this close! I can’t believe it! It has finally started hitting me that I am definitely having a boy! Ready or not! I knew it was always a chance and I always thought it would be fun. But come on! I had FIVE daughters! I was perfectly content on not having one and I absolutely loved having a house full of girls. Even Stoney felt this way. Of course he is the King in their eyes so I wonder why!
This week I have been feeling a lot better! I had some contractions last night and today but procardia is working it’s magic! Ligaments are back to misbehaving a little bit too. But of course it’s because I’ve been fighting the urge to next which is SO not easy! I have so many other things that need done to get ready for my sister’s wedding so I’m trying to get that stuff done before I really bust into nesting!
This weekend I will be ordering his crib set! I will also be putting the crib up to the highest setting and getting it all ready. We don’t normally do a nursery but I think it will be a need this time. Half the time I have at least one other child in my bed. So I think we are going to start out the first part of the night in his crib. Then when he wakes for his first feeding, I’ll decide if we will put him back in his crib or bring him to bed with us. Most likely, he’ll end up in bed with us! We both love to cosleep so that’s not a huge deal. It also makes nursing so much easier!
I will also be putting together my hospital bag! So would you like to know what this veteran mom brings with her? First I will tell you that I bring 2 bags. 1 medium sized duffel bag for me and I will be packing the Kalencom diaper bag for Myles!

That’s it! I will be stopping at Walmart with my list and picking up a lot of stuff in the travel section. I love travel sizes for this reason! Just pack them in a special makeup bag or ziploc bag! I also buy a new toothbrush! The hospital has some of this stuff but it’s just so much nicer to have your favorites available! Now the question of the day!
What do you pack in your bag that is not listed here?

You are such a great looking 30-week mama! I am glad you feel better this week too. Thanks for including your packing list. Even though I am trying for a home birth I may have a small bag ready just in case.

Kia,
I would pack a small one just to be prepared! I like to be prepared for everything! Plus you have to get other stuff ready for a home birth too!!
Wow! This is such a blessing. My sister is expecting her first, so I finally get to be an aunt (by blood). I think I’m just as excited as she is.
Did you say you have 5 girls? Wow! I have 3 children (2 boys, 1 girl) I pray that one day I’ll get a chance to have another daughter before I get too old.
Wishing you the best in the weeks to come.

My ipod/iphone! You look positively stunning!
My home birth list is WAY more extensive and different than this.
I also am cautious with saying how prepped my bag is just in case I have to transition because of the intention it sets. Talking about language around a potential transition bag is actually one question I meant to talk to my midwife about yesterday. I definitely need to write it down on the list I prep for when I talk to her.

Oh yes Kia! I have seen the list of a homebirth! LOL I would just keep a small bag that you can use as an emergency bag. More like insurance cards, your wishes, and anything else you feel URGENT. The rest of the stuff can be taken care of later. Kind of like keeping an emergency kit in your car! You’ll do fantastic though! Are you doing a home water birth?
I brought a pair of shoes, not the tennis shoes I wore in, but not slippers, something in between so you don’t HAVE to go in just socks, but not put on street shoes!
Dental floss..I’d be lost with out it =)
I also packed a really good essential oil, I dont want to spray on perfume around a newborn baby, but getting a little sniff, or putting some on, the smell ( in a hospital, especially!) was a nice refresh! =)
And you look great for 30 weeks!!
Don’t forget a wet bag for the baby diapers ( or good dispoasble bag to take home in)
Ooh, and i took wintergreen lifesavers, with both my boys..=)

Hahah!! Love it!! I can’t believe I’m only 10 WEEKS from having this baby… Wait, no, I’m 10 from being where you are, LOL… ok 20 weeks, that feels better! You look SOOO cute!! I’m so excited for you to have a boy! Will you take a pic of your bag? I’m hoping to get a premade one so I don’t forget anything, haha. And I’m also bringing my own gown! horray!! I can’t wait to read how it goes!

Gena, you are probably more qualified to answer that kind of question than me, this is my first time. We’ll see what my body wants to do when the time comes. We’ll have the water ready but if it does not feel right at the time I won’t do it. We will be prepped with practice for different positions and scenarios (aquatic and terrestrial). I think I’ll just make sure to refrain from doing it outside in the garden… no need to terrify the neighbors LOL!

Oh that’s a good one Claire! I generally bring my slippers and definitely a wet bag!
Thank you!
Thank you! Congrats to you!!
Jennifer, I have a picture of my Kalencom bag on my diaper bag giveaway! I love it! I do need to get a customized one made with his name though! I looked at the premade bags but this was easier to have a list.
LOL Kia! I love your outlook! I think you are doing just what you should do! Keeping your mind open and ready for anything.
looking good and keep your head up…..:) we are getting as excited as you are !!! Keep us updated please…
I can’t remember if you’re having a c-section or vag. delivery. ??? If you’re not having a C remember to bring some hard candy to suck on while you wait. They normally won’t let you eat. I took Butterscotch with me and it was a great way to keep myself sane while I was incredibly starving! lol
You look great hun! I can’t wait to see Myles!

Stef I am delivering Vaginally! I don’t bring candy since I’ve never used it before. I like popsicles in labor and the nurses take care of that! Plus my labors are never long enough to get to the starving point! LOL I’ll get hungry afterwards!
Okay how sad is it that I am eight days away from having this baby and all I’ve done is put my pjs in the hospital bag?
Pretty bad, huh?
But I do have the going home outfit for my baby… it’s just not washed yet.
Maybe I should make a list…. Hmmmmm.
