The Stroller Debate….

After a house full of kids, I have decided that I am done with the same old boring strollers. I need to find something that will help me get in shape too. I have to decide what stroller would be best for me now. I know I definitely want a jogging stroller. I want to get into shape and become more active when Myles arrives. The problem is that for a good quality jogging stroller, you will be paying a few hundred dollars. No wonder it will get me fit, that’s a month’s worth of groceries!

Check out the Bumbleride Indie for example. It is the Grand Prix of jogging strollers. At an average of $450, it has all the features I would really love in a stroller.

  • Perfect for infants and up
  • five point safety harness
  • 360° swivel front wheel
  • Carrying handle for easy transport when folded
  • Reclining seat
  • Adjustable handle
  • Easy and compact fold
  • Compatible with a Graco infant car seat

I’m not picky but these are all features that make it worthwhile. Of course there are a few others that you can check out yourself. The one feature it doesn’t have is that it only seats 1 child. This is my dilemma. Kambree will not be 2 when Myles arrives. I plan on starting a slow workout regimen of walking 5-6 weeks postpartum. So she’ll almost be 2. I can’t expect a great workout if I’m chasing her around. Of course, I can put Kambree in the stroller and put Myles in a sling. This would make it possible to get away with a single stroller. This way when Stoney can sit with the kids, I can sneak out with one of them in the stroller and it’s not too bulky.

As I mentioned, spending $400 on a jogging stroller is very unattainable. Especially since I am starting from scratch with a little boy. Of course, my desire to be fit is strong. My need to be fit and healthy are enough to justify spending a little more for a quality jogging stroller. I started looking at the Joovy strollers at Babies R Us. I love that you can get the Joovy Zoom with a fixed wheel or a swivel wheel that locks. Which is great since I either take long walks near my house or I go on the walking path which requires more maneuverability. The stroller does say it’s for 6+ months. But that is great if I put Myles in a sling for the first few months. The price is also more affordable than the Bumbleride.

Now I need to find a stroller that will fit all my needs and continue to be affordable. My question for you is what jogging stroller would you prefer out of these two? If you have a jogging stroller, tell me what you have. Is there something you love about that stroller? Is there something you hate about that stroller? I need details! Then hopefully I can get started in toning up this body for bikini season after Myles gets here. Of course, you probaby won’t catch me in a bikini unless you are watching through my windows! Thanks everyone!

and since some people might be confused. I was not compensated for this post in ANY way.

  1. They both look like really good strollers. I’ve heard the joggers with bigger/wider wheels are easier for turning while running. Don’t know if that helps any

  2. I’m a Bumbleride fan hands down. We have the Indie Twin and could boast all day about some of its features.

  3. I have a double stroller that I got on ebay for less than $100. It has the swivel wheel that locks, but I don’t know about the rest of the features but it sure has lasted a long time. I got it when Haylee was a baby and it is still in perfect condition! But, as we all know…I am not a name brand person usually! lol

  4. I have a Jeep one that I loved… although I doubt I can use it with two! I’ll need to upgrade to a double jogging stroller. Or buy another Jeep one and make my husband push one too!

  5. Another Bumbleride fan here. I won mine so I was really blessed but I seriously love it, its like riding on a cloud literally. Or well at least riding OVER one LOL

  6. We have the Baby Jogger City Mini Double…it’s not for jogging, but I do love it. It is super narrow and my very tall 3 and 1 year old still fit in it.

I’d love to be able to compare to the Bumbleride as I’ve heard good things about that, too.

  7. They both look like really good strollers so its hard to say — sorry! Have you checked into the BOB strollers? I see a lot of joggers w/ those and they are supposed to be really good! :)
