Just last month the H1N1 entered our house and gave me two sick little girls. I was grateful that it was pretty mild. I was also grateful that I didn’t get sick. We got over it pretty quickly but about killed each other because of cabin fever. I was told to basically quarantine myself for TEN days. Um yeah, I’d like that dr to spend ten days in a house with 4 kids! Not gonna happen! Well this time, I am glad that my older girls had it. Because I can concentrate on my baby girl. Kambree is only 17 months old and really needs mama.

So this is how it started. We were fine Tuesday. Playing with my new Logitech Webcam. Look how happy she is. Within a few hours of these pictures, who would have known that her temperature would have spiked. I felt awful for her and tried tylenol and her temp dropped for a mere 30-45 minutes before spiking again at 100.7. We even tried some oscillococcinum which helped but it wasn’t enough. For the rest of the night, I checked her temperature frequently and barely slept. it never got over 101.

When she woke up, I checked her temp and noticed her head was cool but her body was on fire. So I did a rectal temp and got 100.6. Gave tylenol. Took over an hour to go down but once it was down, it has not returned! On top of the fever she was coughing and had a little bit of labored breathing. The labored breathing came and went. Luckily it was very mild.

I called the pediatrician first thing this morning. We took her in and she was diagnosed with H1N1 with the beginnings of an ear infection and throat infection. Poor girl is miserable! She has slept most of the day. Right now she’s laying on my lap and just cuddling with me. She’s had her first dose of Tamiflu so hopefully in a day or two, she will be feeling a lot better! My OB also prescribed Tamiflu as a safety measure for me. So if I get it, then I’m going to scream since I got the vaccinations and being on Tamiflu. Hopefully I’ll be updating soon telling you how great she is doing!
