17 Weeks Pregnant and Growing an Onion! GENDER NEWS
Yes you heard me right! I am growing an onion. At least according to The Bump. Physically I am growing as far as I can tell! I am loving the belly. I always have when pregnant. I am still carrying low. I am still suffering from Costochondritis and going to talk to my OB but I’m pretty sure it’s just going to be something I have to deal with until after the baby is born. If you don’t know what it is, basically the ligaments connecting my ribs to my sternum are inflamed. It can be caused by pregnancy when my ribs begin to expand. So far I have been handling without even tylenol. I have muscle relaxers when it gets really bad. But I just try to rest a lot and it helps.
I am also excited because I have finally come to a decision. I really wanted a surprise this time because we honestly don’t care what gender this baby is. We just truly want a healthy baby. I have a house full of girls and couldn’t imagine anything different. But then again a boy would be great too. The problem is that we can’t seem to agree on a boy’s name. We can’t agree on circumcision and I can’t find a lot of cute boy clothes! So I just cry. I have decided the best solution was to find out what the baby is. If it’s a girl, I won’t be wasting any tears! If it’s a boy, you’ll be seeing a lot of vents and posts trying to come up with a name that will make my husband happy! I will be posting ultrasound information shortly after this post! Of course because I can! I will be offering a giveaway!
I have also made another big decision. I have chosen not to do a home birth. As much as I dreamed about it, it’s just not in the cards for me. Chances are I will make it to 37 weeks. But there is a chance that I won’t, then that’s thousands of dollars wasted on a midwife and birth that I didn’t get to experience. It will also add stress and anxiety over not having the birth I wanted. So I have chose to WANT another experience. Yes it really can be a choice to want something else! I will be more than happy to stick with the doctor that I love and trust. I will also be in a fantastic hospital. This is something that I have prayed over and gone back and forth with. I truly know now that this is the best.

Gena, I had two natural births in the hospital – 1 with Zane (6 years ago tomorrow coincidentally), and 1 with Delaney. They weren’t homebirths, but they were pretty much what I wanted with very little Dr./nurse intervention. Just my husband (and my sister, too with Zane). So, think about what you would like in a homebirth, and get as close as you can for the hospital if you want. You might be surprised to find that you can get a good experience anyway!
Thanks everyone! I am great with my decisions now.
Thank you Jenn! That is great advice! My OB will do a heplock and be pretty un-invasive. I don’t know why I didn’t even think of that. Oh yeah cause my brain doesn’t work properly right now!
Whatever you have he/she will be gorgeous! I am so excited for you and can’t wait to find out what it is and see him/her! I’m happy that you’re not doing a home birth though to be honest only because of your health issues. You need to be safe! ((hugs)) sweetie!

You are so TEENY!! I hate to say it–but it looks like a girl to me LOL but–maybe it’s a boy
either way it’s gonna be a cutie!!
Surprises are so hard, I know I really wanted our third baby’s gender to be a surprise but not being able to plan ahead makes it hard.
Don’t worry about names…it will come to you!
