Skip the gym. Take the EA Challenge with EA Sports Active!

Yes I am a stay at home mom so some of you delusional people may think, “wow she has LOTS of time to get to the gym.” Yeah and what world do you live in so I can move! I live in a very small community so unless I want to go work out with High Schoolers, I won’t be going to any gym! Heck the closest gym we have is 50 + miles. I’d like to hit the gym 3 times a week so 300 miles a week. Not bad right. I can do it. NOT!

Here is the problem with gyms.

1. Cost. We’ll skip the obvious gas and pretend that gym is about 45 miles closer. Right now Gold’s Gym is offering a promotion. $17.95 PER person plus $1 enrollment. Sounds great right? Yeah if you have money to blow. We live on one income and I’d have to pay for a sitter on top of that.  That PER person is a 2 for 1 deal. So you’d have to find someone else to go in it with you! That’s still $36/month! Now let’s look at the $1 enrollment. They failed to mention you’ll be paying administrative fees! How did $1 turn into $22.26. I’d be afraid of other hidden costs!

2. JUDGING. As much as you people say, “I don’t judge others.”  We all do. It’s human nature. I wouldn’t feel comfortable going into a gym and having people cringe thinking, “She should have been here 200 lbs ago.” I also don’t want people looking at me strange while I’m trying to workout and figure out how to use that machine. Yes it is kind  of silly but it’s a real fear for some people! I know you are all thinking, “Um she’s far from 200 lbs.” But that was just a silly number I put out there to prove a point.

3. Time. I just don’t have the time to drive to the sitter, drive to the gym, work out and back again. I definitely don’t have that time on a regular basis. I’m busy shuffling kids to and from school. Taking them to their activities and taking care of the house. Oh and not to mention my blogging! You’d all miss me!

Now there are the problems I have with the going to the gym. Wouldn’t it be great to work off those holiday pounds at home! I have the solution for you. I will warn you now, if you have not worked out in awhile start this challenge LIGHTLY. You will kill yourself! It is a true workout!

The EA Sports Active for the Wii is an ultimate workout. It provides you with a virtual personal trainer, 30 day challenge and more. If you start to slack during the workout, it will tell you!

You will be taking rest days and the EA Sports Active will know! You won’t get away with skipping workouts here. You’ll be accountable to yourself! You’ll be doing squats, lunges, running, walking and many other exercises. Each day it will get harder as you are getting more in shape. It has a warm up and cool down session. You can also customize workouts to focus on the body parts that you need to work on. On November 17, they will be bringing out even more workouts!

Now let’s look at my reasons for skipping the gym again.

  1. Cost
  2. Judging
  3. Time

The EA Sports Active costs $59.99. So about as much as I’d pay for 1 month of gym membership AND the so called $1 membership. I can do it in my own home  where no one else can see me bouncing around looking like a baby when I cry after 10 lunges. The best part! I can get up 45 minutes before everyone else and get it done while coffee is brewing!

I began this challenge before finding out I was pregnant and unfortunately I was unable to continue because of my risks. But I am so excited to be getting back into pre-pregnancy shape after the baby’s born. Definitely be sure to watch for it in April as I gear up for that summer body! If your challenge is accountability, how about purchasing an additional accessory pack and do it with a friend!

Now my personal challenge for you! Tell me what your biggest challenge is when it comes to getting to the gym!

I received the EA Sports Active for this review but the opinions are my own.
