I really haven’t written about my pregnancy on my blog because I’m honestly a nervous wreck. At least I was until my doctor appointment on Monday. I had heard the heartbeat before but it was not enough. I felt the flutters but again it was not enough. The growing midsection has made it real for others but I just felt so unconnected. Then it finally hit me! I am really seriously pregnant and in about 22 weeks I will be having a baby!

I get the newsletters every week telling me what my baby’s up to. Honestly after 5 full term babies, you’d wonder why I bothered. Well because they are actually comical. I need a good laugh in this insane life that has been bestowed upon me. Currently the latest one reads: Baby’s now the size of a naval orange! Did they just compare my child to an orange? Yes they did! So now when I go to the grocery store I look at food and think “I can’t eat that cause I’ll think of eating my baby.”

So I’ve been feeling amazingly great! I gained 8 lbs at my dr appointment on Monday. Which is great since I lost 5 lbs before. I guess I accomplished my goal and more! I just wanted to be back at my starting weight.  I’m no longer feeling the need to engorge myself with saltines to prevent the nausea. I am starting to get the cramping but I generally do. It will get worse as the baby gets bigger. I don’t have the greatest cervix even though it has managed to stay strong so far. It still causes me hell. The heavier the baby gets, the more pressure it puts on my cervix. Bedrest generally helps this. Of course right now they are mild so I am avoiding it!!

I am carrying lower than I ever have but it’s still early. Should be fun to see how I carry later and what it means in March/April! Be sure to enter our Baby Poll!
