Blissful Drama

The white dress is ordered. The bridesmaids dresses are fitted. Tuxes are rented. It’s a week before the wedding. So what’s the problem? The Maid of Honor has officially thrown a fit because she’s not the center of attention!

This is how my life is right now. One of my best friends is getting married in a little more than a week. I am a bridesmaid while her cousin is the Maid of Honor. When the first of August rolled around and no news about the bridal shower was sent, I asked. I got the run around.

“I can’t afford it right now so I asked the bride to help.” WHAT??? Why would you ask the bride! Seriously? Why not ask the other Bridesmaids? So I talk to the Mother of the Bride. I volunteered to help pay for it and to help the MOH anyway I can. That’s when the MOH told me to throw the Bachelorette party since she already had everything bought for the Bridal Shower. I said ok but was secretly wondering how she couldn’t afford to throw it, if she already bought everything. I bit my tongue. Then I get a text Saturday.

“Did you get the invitation?” Umm no.

“Well I sent them all on Monday and no one has gotten them.” That’s crazy since she NEVER asked for my PO Box or anyone else’s! So I tell her to just call everyone and let them know when it is.

“Oh I will do that on Monday or just change the date.” Tuesday rolls around and I hear NOTHING. It’s supposed to be on Wednesday! So I call the bride and get the MOH’s number. The bride informs me that the MOH wants to postpone the shower until after the wedding. WHAT? So I ask the bride and her mom if I can throw it. Agreed! We work out the details and I get it all set to go!

Now the MOH is texting to me, bride and MOB. “Why can’t you all just let me do what I planned.” Well if she would have done what was originally planned, that would have been great! So I have taken up the slack. Next week I have a full schedule!

Kindergarten testing, nail appointment, girl scout meeting, bridal shower, bachelorette party, rehearsal, bridal pictures and WEDDING. I am now a firm believer that everyone should elope!
