To Chip or Not To Chip
On September 11, 2001 when our world came tumbling down around us. We also were questioning everything. Some people were screaming for stricter security issues while other people were screaming for their rights to privacy. Obviously there is no clear cut line to satisfy both parties. Since that day I have heard numerous people mention bar codes on people. Sounds kind of silly but it is becoming more of a possibility especially with micro chipping humans already a reality!
I am sure that there is going to be a huge uproar about this process soon enough. We’ve been microchipping our animals for years so why not our kids? If it would protect them from child abductions, running away and more. Why not?? Heck it’s going to protect my child right! After all I spent $45 to microchip my $350 dog who kept running away. So why not spend any amount of money it costs to microchip my children!
This year my daughter came home from school with a form that asks permission to fingerprint and collect DNA from her. I honestly thought nothing of it. I am very much aware that the FBI will now have her fingerprints on file as well as DNA. So of course this means if she ever were to go out and commit a criminal act, she will be found! I’m okay with that. I would never throw my child under the bus but they will have to take responsibility for their actions. But I will NEVER microchip my child.
Placing a microchip in my dog is a LOT different in my opinion. My dog can’t speak up and say “This is my address. This is my phone number. Can you help me get home.” A dog can easily be stolen to never be found again. I micro chipped my lustful dog after neutering didn’t fix his philandering ways. My children on the other hand are not left unattended and can’t run faster than I can yet. They are taught as soon as they can what their phone numbers, addresses, parents name, relatives names and etc. Anything that can be used to help them get home if they are lost.
I just watched this video on the microchip and it does make sense. How many Jane or John Does do we have in our morgues? What about mentally ill people or elderly that are suffering from dementia? Certain cases I could see the use of this chip. Swipe a wand over the person’s arm and find out what is needed? Now I honestly do not understand how in the world, a chip WITHOUT a GPS is going to help a child that is abducted. NEWSFLASH: If I were to steal someone’s child, I’m going to get the heck out of dodge! I’m not going to stick around and hide out. Plus if I knew that the child was possibly stuck with a micro chip, I’d do my business faster and ditch them. Let’s face it, that’s how these criminals think. People came out with all sorts of theft devices for cars and none of them have yet to stop a car theft!
The only way to protect our children from an abductor is to keep them locked inside our houses from day 1. But then again, none of us would have children. That would definitely end child abductions! Now I’m curious? How many of you would microchip your own child? Why or why not? Do you think that it would be effective without a GPS? Do you think that the government would use this chip as a way to invade our privacy?
About 7000 chips have been sold for use in humans; 1000 have been implanted.
