Family Fit Friday Recipe..Healthy Snacks

familyfitfriHEALTHY SNACKS

When Ashley comes home from school, she is immediately hungry. I like to stock up on snack ideas that will help tide her over until dinner. The problem is finding something that is healthy and fun! I am going to help you come up with a few inexpensive and fun snack ideas.

1. Fruit skewered on a stick with a little dark chocolate for dipping.

Pick up some of your child’s favorite fresh fruit. Add some jazz by letting them dip it in dark chocolate.

2. Fruity Granola Parfait.

Mix some of your fruits and layer them with low-fat yogurt and granola.

3. Bag of Bugs

Put 2 graham crackers in a ziploc bag. Crush them. Add some “bugs”. Dried cranberries = ladybugs. Raisins = ants. Practice digging for bugs!

4. Frozen Yogurt Pops.

Pour yogurt into paper cups until they are almost to the top. Put a piece of plastic wrap across the top. Poke a popsicle stick into the cup so that it is standing in the center. Put cups in the freezer until the yogurt is solid. Add fresh fruit for variety!

  1. awesome healthy ideas. Brianna’s favorites are: 1. ants on a log – celery with peanut butter then topped with raisins and 2. apples and peanut butter – slice up apples and dip in PB.

  2. oh yeah, we also do “chilly bears” where we freeze juice, koolaid, or crystal light.

  3. Sherry those sound YUMMY!

  4. These are some of my fave snacks! [yogourt parfaits]
I was craving ‘bugs on a log’ the other day with pb and raisins!
