On the path to fireproofing my marriage

fp1

I have recently learned about a movie, Fireproof, that is geared towards helping couples. Even though, I have a lot of faith in my own marriage, I still wanted to watch it. I knew that my marriage could definitely be better. Perhaps this movie would help us. I decided to send Stoney down to the movie house to pick it up. I told him that it was about firefighting and marriage. Surprisingly, he was willing to watch it with me. During the movie, I found myself seeing resemblances to the characters. As much as I love my husband, I have found that sometimes neither of us understand each other. We also tend to fight with each other over some small silly things. So I have decided to purchase “The Love Dare” and take the challenge! Everyday, you will be able to read my own journey underĀ  “The Love Dare“. If you have also joined the challenge, check out the Mr. Linky at the end of the post and leave your link so we can check it out!

FIREPROOF the Movie

Capt. Caleb Holt lives by the old firefighter’s adage: Never leave your partner behind. At home, in the cooling embers of his marriage, he lives by his own rules. Growing up, Catherine Holt always dreamed of marrying a loving, brave firefighter…just like her daddy. Now, after seven years of marriage, Catherine wonders when she stopped being “good enough” for her husband. Caleb’s father challenges Caleb with a 40 day dare. Even though Caleb, thinks that it is a waste of time, he agrees to take the challenge. During these 40 days, Caleb finds himself getting frustrated and disappointed over and over. Even though he finds this challenge nearly impossible, he continues on. By the end, he has found that he has learned more about himself, gained a new found faith in Christ and learned to truly love his wife.

The Love Dare

The Love Dare was written by Stephen and Alex Kendrick. It is a 40 day challenge for couples to understand and practice unconditional love. This is a book that every couple can benefit even if you have the strongest of marriages or your marriage is over. Now it’s time to take the dare! If you have taken the dare, share your link here! Don’t forget to check out my own journey throughout the 40 day challenge!
